We also desire to pray prayers for our daughter’s healing, protection, encouragement, and strength. It can sometimes seem like an overwhelming task to pray for our daughters when there are so many things to pray about!
Praying for our Daughters with Scripture
Using Scripture is a powerful way to pray for our daughters without feeling overwhelmed. When we pray the Word of God over our daughters, we can pray for their mind, body, soul and spirit. We can pray for their protection and well-being.
We can cover so much spiritual ground when we use the Word of God to pray for our daughters.
Seven Scriptures to Pray Over your Daughter
Here are seven Scriptures that include seven categories we can strategically pray over our daughters each day. Since there are seven Scriptures, you can pray one Scripture over your daughter each day of the week!
1. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Mind
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2
Praying for our daughter’s mind is powerful. Our daughter’s inmost thoughts and feelings all begin with her mind. That is what Paul in Romans 12:2 warned God’s people not to conform to the ungodly ways of this world, but to renew our minds through the Word of God.
As we pray for our daughters, we can ask God to protect and renew our daughter’s minds. We can pray that our daughters will fill their minds with the truth of God’s Word that will shield them from the deceitful lies of the enemy. If your daughter is still a young child in your home, we as parents can carefully monitor what goes into their minds through the media choices they consume.
We can read the Bible with them and provide them with good, wholesome books to read. We can play uplifting music within our homes, and create a safe and loving atmosphere that encourages her mind to flourish and grow.
If your daughter is an adult, you can ask the Lord to protect her mind through the media choices and influences she surrounds herself with. Pray that she discovers God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will for her life as she seeks to honor him each day.
Prayer: Lord, I pray that my daughter will not conform to the ungodly patterns of this world, but I ask that you will transform her mind through the power of your Word. I know that you have a good, pleasing, and perfect will for her life. Guide her each day as she grows in the grace and knowledge of you. Amen.

2. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Emotions
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Psalm 42:5
We as women are very aware of the fact that our emotions change constantly! Sometimes our emotions can feel like a rollercoaster ride, filled with highs and lows, especially depending on our hormones levels throughout the month! Though we may not always understand our emotions, we can trust that God has uniquely created us as females with our emotions to help us better understand the world around us.
We as women have the ability to use our emotions to express empathy and compassion towards others. We can also use our emotions to connect with God on a spiritual level that helps us become more intune with the Holy Spirit as we seek his guidance and direction in our lives.
As our daughters seek to understand their emotions, we can pray that God will help them to use their emotions to connect with others, and ultimately to connect with God. Through our daily prayers for our daughters we can pray that God will help them become more self-aware, and that he will give them the wisdom to discern their emotions day-to-day.
Prayer: Lord, there are times when my daughter’s emotions will seem like the tossed waves of the sea. Sometimes she will be downcast, sad, angry, and happy. In the midst of her emotions, help her to understand your love for her, and that she can always put her hope in you. Amen.
3. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Faith
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
Ephesians 3:12
As we continue to pray for our daughters each day, we can definitely pray for their faith. Faith is the foundation of our relationship with God. Let’s pray that our daughters will have a desire to deepen their faith as they spend time with God. The enemy will try to get our daughters to doubt their faith, or to question the goodness of God during the difficult times in their lives. We as mothers can pray that our daughter’s faith will weather the storms of life, and that their faith will continue to grow each day.
Prayer: Lord, help my daughter to have firm faith in your Word, and may she approach you with freedom and confidence. Faith comes by hearing your Word of truth. Help her to continually hear, read, and speak your Word so that she can walk through this life with a solid foundation of faith! Amen.
4. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Friends
The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
Proverbs 12:26
Friends are so important to our daughters. If we think back on our own childhoods, we can remember special times we have spent with friends. God wired us as women to desire connection through meaningful friendships. Whether your daughter is a preschooler or is well into her adult years, you can pray for your daughter to find uplifting, close connections with friends.
Pray that your daughter will surround herself with godly friends who will encourage her to grow in her relationship with God.
Prayer: Lord, help my daughter to choose her friends carefully. Surround her with godly friends who will encourage her to walk your path of truth and righteousness. Amen.
5. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Husband
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word…
Ephesians 5:22, 25-26
Did you know that you can pray for your daughter’s future husband, even if she is still in her elementary years? It is never too early to start praying for your daughter’s husband. If your daughter is a teenager or a young adult, you can pray for your daughter’s future husband as you pray for her future.
Only God knows the paths our children will take in their adult years, and praying for your daughter’s husband even before she meets him is a powerful way to entrust your daughter to God’s plan for her life.
If your daughter is currently married, pray for your daughter’s husband and pray for them as a married couple. We as mothers have the privilege of praying for our daughters no matter what stage of life they are in, and the prayers of a righteous mamma are powerful and effective!
Prayer: Lord, I pray for my daughter’s future (or current) husband. By your grace and mercy, help her to choose a husband who fears the Lord and is a man after your own heart. Help him to be a godly husband who loves my daughter as Christ loves the church. Amen.

6. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Influences
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
1 John 2:15
Just as we prayed for our daughter’s friendships, we can pray that our daughters choose godly influences to hang around. These influences will greatly affect the types of friendships they choose. As we pray for our daughters to surround themselves with godly influences, we can also pray against negative influences in the media they consume.
Prayer: Lord, I pray that my daughter will not love the ungodly lures of this world, but that she will walk your path of truth, righteousness and holiness through the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
7. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Heart
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Proverbs 4:23
I love this Scripture because our hearts include our mind, will, and our emotions. We can ask God to protect and care for our daughter’s heart each day. When our daughters renew their minds through God’s Word, their emotions and actions will align with the truth and power of God’s Word!
Prayer: Lord, I pray for my daughter’s heart. Guard her mind, will, and emotions, and protect her heart from the evil one. Give her a heart that desires to love and serve you all the days of her life!
8. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Protection
Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
Psalm 5:12
Prayer: Lord, I lift up prayers for my daughter, and I ask that You will rescue, guide, and protect her today. Answer her when she calls on You, and be with her in times of trouble. I know that Your plans for her are good, and not for her harm. Guard her and protect her, and cover her with Your favor as with a shield (Psalm 5:12). Amen.
9. Prayers for My Daughter: Her Obedience
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Exodus 20:12
Prayer: Lord, teach my daughter the powerful gift and blessing of obedience. Help her to understand that when she honors her parents, she is truly obeying and submitting to You. Help her to walk in obedience to You, and may she live a long, joyful, and fulfilled life. Amen.
10. A Prayer for my Daughter’s Health
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Proverbs 3:7-8
Prayer: Lord, please protect my daughter’s health, and grant her nourishment and daily provision in her body. Help her to establish healthy eating and exercise habits that will sustain her. Give her the strength she needs to approach each day with the power of Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
11. A Prayer for my Daughter’s Education
Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance…
Proverbs 1:5
Prayer: Lord, give my daughter wise discernment, and may she gain wisdom to add to her learning. Give her a hunger and thirst to understand your Word, and an excitement to learn about the world around her. Help her to know that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, knowledge, and true understanding. (Proverbs 9:10) Amen.
12. Praying for My Daughter’s Gifts and Talents
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
1 Corinthians 12:4-5
Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving my daughter unique gifts, skills, and talents that she can use for Your glory. Help me to encourage her in those gifts, so that she can use her abilities to build up and edify those around her. Amen.
13. Prayers for my Daughter’s Purity
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.
Psalm 119:9
Prayer: Lord, I ask today that You will guard my daughter’s purity by helping her live according to Your Word. Help her not to conform to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed daily by the renewing of her mind. (Romans 12:2) Guide her heart and mind to think thoughts that are pure, right, and noble. Amen.
14. Praying for My Daughter’s Discernment
I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.
Psalm 119:125
Prayer: Lord, give my daughter discernment and understanding to make the right choices in her life. Help her to discern which relationships to pursue, and which influences to avoid. I thank you that my daughter will gain knowledge, wisdom, and discernment through Your Word. Amen.
15. Praying Against my Daughter’s Strongholds
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
2 Corinthians 10:4
Prayer: Lord, I pray against any strongholds that are preventing my daughter from living in Your peace and freedom. Your Word has the power to demolish strongholds, and she is able to take captive every thought and place it under the obedience and power of Christ (2 Cor 10:4-5). Thank you Lord, that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Cor 3:17). Help my daughter to walk in Your freedom and power each day. Amen.
16. Prayers for my Daughter’s Calling
With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.
2 Thessalonians 1:11
Prayer: Lord, I pray for my daughter’s calling. Bring to fruition the calling that You have placed on her life, and may she overflow with Your goodness and grace. I know that You have given her tremendous gifts and skills that she can use to be a blessing to others. May she live out her calling with joy and gladness. Amen.
17. Prayers for My Daughter’s Strength
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
Psalm 28:7
Lord, I lift up prayers for my daughter today. Fortify her with Your power and strength. Help her to know that she does not need to be strong on her own, but that she can rely on Your mighty power through the Holy Spirit. Equip her with the grace and fortitude she needs to live each day for Your honor and glory. Amen.
A Free Mother-Daughter Prayer Journal
I still remember the pages and pages of prayers I wrote for my daughter before she even entered the world. With each passing year, it reminds me of how little time we actually have with our children–how each day passes as quickly as morning mist on a summer day.
It also reminds me of when Jesus was born. As the shepherds came to worship their newborn king, Mary “treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” (Luke 2:19) I also desire to treasure each moment and memory I have with my children, and it is my prayer to watch them grow in wisdom, stature, and in the grace and favor of God.
So I am committed to treasuring each moment with my children, and to praying for them daily.
One of the ways I do this with my daughter is with a mother-daughter journal.
A couple of years ago I bought a simple composition notebook from the store, and we spent time decorating it together. We then wrote back and forth to each other, writing the things we appreciated about one another–sharing verses, doodles, and prayers.
I then created a Treasures of Grace mother-daughter prayer journal with writing prompts for moms and daughters to exchange back and forth together–and it is available to you for FREE!
