Are you looking for ways to grow your Pinterest following as a Christian blogger? If you are new to blogging or want to create the perfect Pinterest profile, take a look at how to create a Pinterest business account that will get traffic to your Christian blog! You’ll first need to start by creating a free Pinterest business account.
Why Do you Need a Pinterest Business Account?
Even if you have a personal Pinterest account, it might be a good idea to create a brand new Pinterest business account for your Christian blog. Why should you create a Pinterest business account? If you plan to use Pinterest to grow your Christian blog or sell Christian products, you definitely want to set up a Pinterest business account.
Pinterest business accounts work differently than personal accounts. If you really want to maximize your reach on Pinterest, creating a Pinterest business account is the way to do it! Having a Pinterest business account will allow Pinterest to recognize you as a content creator rather than a Pinterest user. When you have a business account, you have access to Pinterest analytics, and have the opportunity to promote your products through promoted pins.
How to Set Up your Pinterest Business Account
To set up your business account, all you need to do is go to the Pinterest help center and follow the steps. When I first set up my Pinterest business account, I didn’t even have a personal account and was very unfamiliar with Pinterest. It does not take long to follow the process to go through creating a business account. You can do it in only a few minutes. After you have set up your business account, make sure that you claim your website.
That way, your website will be visible on your Pinterest account and you will get analytics from the pins you share to Pinterest from your website.
Enabling Rich Pins
Now you’ll want to set up an enable rich pins. This sounds super fancy, but it’s just a way for his Pinterest to further categorize your pins and set your pins apart from other pins that are not connected to a business account.
Rich pins are great if you have…
- Product Pins-if you have an ecommerce store (like Etsy, Shopify or Woocommerce) then any of the product pins you add to Pinterest will automatically include product information (like the price of your product and availability) directly to Pinterest.
- Recipe Pins-If you are a food blogger, or you include recipes in your blog posts, rich pins will automatically pull the recipes from your blog posts into the area where your pin description is located.
- Article Pins-If you primarily create blog posts, then rich pins will pull the meta description from your blog post, which will give Pinterest more information about what your blog post is about.
You can follow the instructions in this tutorial on how to set up rich pins for your website. Heather Farris has a helpful video that shows you how to do this on her Youtube channel. If you skip to 6:14 minutes into the video, she shows you how to set up rich pins using the Yoast plugin for WordPress.
Create Your Profile Name for your Pinterest Business Account
Part of the process of setting up your Pinterest business account is creating a profile name. This is where you write the name of your blog and if you can, include your name somewhere in the profile as well. Add a well-lit personal photo of yourself so that people know your Pinterest account belongs to an actual person (and because you’re awesome!)
Create a Profile Description
Creating your profile description is where you want to write a little snippet about who you are and what you do. What is your blog about? What does your website provide for your readers? You only have a couple of sentences to write a good profile description, so the most important thing to add is the keywords that best describe what you blog about.
Make sure that you include keywords that are related to your blog so that people can find you when they search the keywords related to your blog.
Create at Least 10-20 Boards with Board Descriptions
Now it’s time to create boards! Be sure to create boards that are related to the blog categories you write about. Let’s say that you blog about Christian parenting, Christian marriage, and homeschooling. Make sure that you include at least 10 to 20 boards that are related to these topics, and other topics that your audience would be interested in. Make sure that you include keyword-rich descriptions within those boards.
Writing keyword-rich board descriptions is very important to make sure that the Pinterest algorithm knows what your boards are about. You can do a simple search in Pinterest to find the keywords that most fit your blogging categories.
Fill Your Boards with Awesome Pins!
This is the fun part! Here is where you will add at least 10 to 20 pins within each of your new boards. It is very important to make sure that each of the pins within your boards match the board descriptions. For example, if you are adding pins to the board “Homeschooling Ideas”, make sure that all of the pins within that board are related to homeschooling! It sounds self-explanatory, but it’s very important to remember that Pinterest will show your pins in search when your pins are added to the keyword-rich boards that accurately describe those pins.
Follow Other Bloggers in your Niche
Once your Pinterest account is ready to roll, you should start following other bloggers in your niche. If you don’t have very much content on your blog, you’ll want to make sure to fill your boards with content from other bloggers within your niche. This will make your boards look filled and professional, and it will also give Pinterest more understanding of what your boards are about when you start adding your own content to those boards.
When you follow other bloggers within your niche, their pins will start to populate within your Pinterest home feed (and also your “following” feed). This is where you can continue to add content to your boards from other bloggers that are related to your niche.
In Conclusion
Creating your business account on Pinterest doesn’t have to be complicated, and you definitely want to make sure that you have a business account for your Christian blog. After you have set up your account correctly, make sure that you are consistently adding content to each of your boards every day.
Tailwind is also a great way to add new content to your boards on a regular basis. All you have to do is schedule the pins you select and add those pins to the correct board within Tailwind.
