Do you desire to pray powerful prayers for your husband?
Many wives do not realize the immense power there is in praying for their husbands.
When many of us start out as young budding wives, we have such high hopes for our marriages. No one sets out on their wedding day vowing to have miserable, bitter marriages filled with suffering and sorrow. We walk down the aisle, bright-eyed and beaming, ready to conquer the world with our knight in shining armor. Then life happens.
Unexpected trials hit. The job lay-offs, struggles of infertility, the heavy demands of parenting–and our “happily-ever-afters” become the heart-wrenching disappointment of deferred dreams and unmet expectations. Like ships in the night, we drift apart. Our vows of “till death do us part” become a distant memory…
It is absolutely imperative that we pray for our husbands and our marriages in the midst of life’s difficulties. The enemy of our souls gleefully slithers from the tree–with a subtle smile of victory. The same lie that worked for Eve has worked with us. It’s the lie that makes us question the goodness and sovereignty of our mighty God–
“Did God really say?”
Ladies, the enemy is the same sly serpent that went after the first marriage in human history.
He aims to steal, kill and destroy our marriages, but Jesus is GREATER–and came to flood our marriages with his abundance. Instead of succumbing to the same lies that Eve bought, we must fight for our marriages with the truth of God’s Word.
This is why it is so important that we pray for our husbands.
The Power of Praying for your Husband
Our prayers are not mere words. They have the life-giving power to perpetuate an inheritance of spiritual blessings for generations to come.
Many years ago, a godly spiritual mentor first introduced me to the book The Power of a Praying Wife, and it is a resource that I continually refer back to and recommend to other wives. In this book I learned how to use the Word of God to actively pray powerful prayers for my husband in the most prominent areas of his life–the areas where Satan will test him the most.
35 Powerful Scriptures to Pray for your Husband
Based on this book, I have created a prayer calendar with over 35 Scriptures you can pray for your husband each day.
You can download this prayer calendar at the end of this post!
Let’s take a look at the Scriptures that you can use to pray for your husband, and let’s pray!

So glorify God in your body.1 Corinthians 6:18-20
Lord, I pray that you will guard my husband’s heart and mind and give him the strength to flee sexual immorality. Help him to honor you with his body, and to keep his mind pure and focused on you. What joy I find knowing my wife is praying for me! Perhaps, she started this because of me…wait, is she praying for herself, really because of me? Did she start this because I needed prayer? Am I such a knucklehead that this concept was birthed out of the pain I am causing her or have caused? I am so confused. I guess I should be thankful that she is praying for me no matter how it came about… I need to talk to her…
Thank you so much for this. May God bless your marriage as you have blessed ours, in Jesus name I pray. Amen
Thank you so much! Blessings on you and your marriage as well! 🙂

Thank you so much for this calendar!! It has been helped so much in praying for my husband when I just don’t know what to pray.
You wouldn’t happen to have a “Daily Prayers for my Wife” calendar would you? My husband was just asking about having one to help prompt him during his day.
Again, thank you for creating this calendar!!
Grace & peace,
Hi Kristy! Thank you so much for your comments! That is a great idea to create a prayers for my wife printable! That is definitely something I will try to make in the future!
This is so beautiful
The wife in the relationship is just as important and needs just as much prayer and support and the husband does. A relationship is not one sided when it comes to hardship and needing support. Why not pray for the family not just the one person? The husbands should praying too.
Absolutely, Maria! We all should be praying for one another, and I totally agree with that. Since I write primarily to women, I encourage us to pray for our husbands, and hopefully our husbands are praying for us too! Check out the prayer category where I have posts on ways we can pray for ourselves and our children. Thanks for visiting!

Thank you so much for visiting Shawna! I hope this is helpful! 🙂
I’m getting married in 30 days, and I’ve been looking for guidance on being a faithful wife in the next chapter of mine and my fiancé (soon to be husband’s!) life together… This is absolutely beautiful, and exactly where I want to start!
I love the prayers you’ve carved out of the scripture–I plan to use them to guide my own specific prayers, but I so appreciate the inspiration and basis for those prayers! I also downloaded the calendar, which has some different verses listed for a few of the topics–I love the options to expand!
I did notice that on the written list, the number 14 is missing (from 13, Priorities to 15, Attitude) and I wondered which topic was missing… [I am that person, I hope I don’t offend! I cross-referenced the calendar and the list, and it looks like the entry for ‘His Work’ would have been number 14–it shows up on the calendar with a scripture, but not on the list.]
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you. This is lovely, and full of love, and perfect for my morning devotions.
Wow, that’s wonderful Kathryn, congratulations! Many blessings to you an your fiancee as you seek the Lord and pray for each other on a daily basis! I will check the list and make sure the Scriptures are correct, thanks for letting me know! In Christ,
