21 Powerful Psalms to Overcome Anxiety

Are you going through a difficult circumstance that is leaving you feeling defeated and discouraged?

Philippians 4:6 is my go-to verse for those challenging days:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

But many of us forget what Paul said in verse 4,

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Philippians 4:4

The Greek word for rejoice is chairō, which means to rejoice exceedingly, to be well, to thrive, or to be glad (source).

When we choose to thrive in Christ and rejoice always–during the good and difficult days, we will not be bound to anxious thoughts that bring us misery, despair, and discontent.

Instead, the grass will look greener in our own backyard.

The sun will shine brighter.

Our joy will exceed and overpower the negativity of our difficult circumstances.

All because we choose to rejoice in the Lord.

So what are you choosing to focus on today?

I pray that the joy of the Lord will chase anxiety away as you trust in the One who does all things well!
