What do you Crave?

Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:2-3

This post is part of my friend Kate’s Five Minute Friday link up, where a weekly prompt is given and we write together about the same word for five minutes. This week’s prompt is crave.

Hmmm… usually when I think of the word crave, I think of a delicious delicacy–like chocolate. Why we as women crave chocolate so much is beyond me. But it is sooo good! Another delightful treat I continue to crave is cookies (with chocolate in them, of course!) My favorites would definitely have to be chocolate chip cookies–with a tall glass of milk. It seems that many of our food cravings are for things that are not particularly good for us in the long run.

But we can crave good things too. Like connection with others. A desire for community. Wholeness in our marriages. The absolute BEST thing to crave is deep, powerful, and passionate communion with God.

You can never have too much of Him. He is never bad for your health. He is who I truly desire to crave more than anything else. Chocolate chip cookies are nice. But I have tasted that the Lord is good. He brings healing to my soul and goodness to my heart.

He is good.

I’ll take a serving of His goodness over chocolate any day.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8
