Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Psalm 37:3
Have you ever felt God leading you in a direction, but were fearful of the outcome? Job changes, moving, new relationships, opportunities in ministry…
You may have sensed God telling you to make a move–but do you seem to be paralyzed before taking the first step? I know I have. I’ve felt this way about starting this blog. But I know that God was impressing upon my heart to take a step of faith.
The Israelites also received clear direction from the Lord to step into the land promised to Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Now it was their turn to walk in God’s will. Moses sent twelve spies to scope out the land. But their fear of the unknown got the best of them.
“The people are stronger and taller than we are, the cities are large, with walls up to the sky!” (Deut 1:28)
But what were they afraid of? God was on their side! The Lord told them not to fear. He told them he would go before them and fight for them just as he did for them in Egypt. They saw his mighty wonders with their very eyes. But only two of the spies actually entered the land–Joshua and Caleb.
You see, the Israelites didn’t have a strength problem–they had a trust problem.
It was their lack of faith that prevented them from inheriting the lush, plentiful land God had for them. Instead, they wandered aimlessly in the desert for another 40 years.
So are you a woman of wandering unbelief or a woman of promise-land faith? [bctt tweet=”Are you a woman of wandering unbelief or a woman of promise-land faith?” username=””]
Psalm 37 exhorts the people of Israel to trust in the strength of the Lord.
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Psalm 37:3
When we trust the Lord to go before us, we can confidently cross the Jordan river and scale the walls of our circumstances–and trust that God will meet us on the other side…
When we trust him, we will dwell in the land and enjoy these three things:
1. Enjoy safe pasture (Ps 37:3)
2. Enjoy great peace (Ps 37:11)
3. Enjoy plenty (Ps 37:19)
Whatever God is telling you to do, follow his leading. Trust that his land is fruitful and full of peace. The journey to the land may get a little rocky sometimes; there may be a few giants to defeat and mountains to climb along the way. But God is faithful, and his Word is true.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
So let’s do this. Pick up that foot, and take that first step of faith. And then the next. Enter his land and enjoy his pasture. Enjoy his peace–and enjoy plenty.
When the world around us is full of famine, we will enjoy his bountiful abundance. What is God calling you to do? I’d love to hear in the comments below–and I’ll see you in the promised land!

I loved how you pulled out three things we will enjoy as we trust the Lord. Grateful to have been your neighbor this morning at FMF! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Thanks so much Joanne! Hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving also! 🙂
“God is faithful, and his Word is true.” Amen. Encouraging reminder. Thank you. Visiting from FMF.
Thanks so much for stopping by, E.W! Blessings to you this Thanksgiving season! 🙂
Christin, I was blessed by your blog. I have been there, done that and bought the t-shirt. I have recently felt God’s tug toward an entrepreneurial venture. God is calling me to conduct parenting training. I have seen what that would look like but I have no idea how it would be funded. God knows. Please pray that I will have promised land faith as he reveals the stepping stones to my Canaan land.
Thanks so much for sharing, Calvonia! I’d be honored to pray for you as you step out in promised-land faith! Lord, I thank you for my sister Calvonia, and for the call you have placed on her heart to conduct parent training to families in need of your wisdom and truth. Please order her steps, and guide her every step of the way as you orchestrate the details of this ministry. We thank you in advance for the mighty work that you WILL accomplish thorough her hands! Provide the funding, and the right people in her path with the skills and resources necessary to further the work of your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen! Blessings to you and your journey to the promised land, Calvonia! 🙂
