By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
Proverbs 24:3-4
When you looked into the mirror this morning, what did you see? A plain face? A few wrinkles? Blotches and blemishes? So much more lies behind your smile. You are a holy house; a sanctuary.
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). That means you are a sacred place where God Himself dwells–where his glory shines. How’s that for a glance in the mirror!
King Solomon built the temple of God with intricate detail and careful precision. The inner sanctuary, the Holy of Holies, was where God Almighty resided; this place was completely overlaid with glimmering gold, and the articles priests used for worship and sacrifices were also fashioned out of gold (1 Kings 6:19-22, 1 Kings 7:51).
Rare and beautiful treasures filled this holy house.
And so it is with you. You contain a treasure that far outweighs the value of the most beautiful jewels.
You contain the treasure of the Living God.
Proverbs 24:4 says that a house is built on wisdom and established through understanding. The rooms are filled with the precious treasures of wisdom.
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.
Proverbs 3:13-15
Is the foundation of your soul built upon the solid-gold foundation of God’s wisdom?
Through the knowledge of God’s Word is your house established. It takes on color, character and form. Your walls become pillars of strength decorated with pearls of peace. Each room of your heart is filled with the abundant treasures of righteousness, hope and joy.
If we know that these priceless treasures abide within our souls, why do we often live life void of victory and freedom? The trials of life have beaten and battered us, leaving us feeling worthless and unwanted.
But God’s treasure is still there, often hidden beneath the rubble and debris of our shattered hearts.
But that’s the beauty of our Savior.
He takes the brokenness of our stories and shines His splendor through the cracked windows. He chooses to use our frail, clay pieces of pottery as instruments of his glory. [bctt tweet=”God chooses to use our frail, clay pieces of pottery as instruments of his glory.” username=”christinbaker12″]
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God, and not from us.
2 Corinthians 4:7
The next time you look into your bathroom mirror, remember that the treasure within you is more powerful than any problem you will ever face.
You are a holy house.
A temple of treasure.
So guard your treasure with the utmost care.
Stand at the door of your heart with vigilance, being careful not to let anything in that will harm your soul.
Don’t allow lies from the enemy to rob your jewels of joy.
Though at times we feel broken and weak, remember this:
You possess the strength and power of the Holy Spirit. [bctt tweet=”You possess the strength and power of the Holy Spirit.” username=”christinbaker12″]
Greater is He who is in you than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
Let the wisdom of Christ build the walls of your house one gemstone at a time, brick by golden brick.
My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Colossians 2:2-3
