For great is your love, reaching to the heavens…
Psalm 57:10
Love. The most profound expression of delight and affection has been misused, abused, and cheaply minimized. How can we say “I love jelly doughnuts” and “I love God” in the same breath? God’s love is deeper, richer than any pleasure on this earth. God is love. His love is like a sweet melody that washes over the soul.
The love songs of our pop culture claim that their love will last forever…
“My love will travel across mountains…” they declare.
These love songs claim to satisfy our souls and endure forever, but earthly love is not eternal. It is temporal. Earthly love is self-focused. Eternal love is selfless. Earthly love shifts like shadows in the sun. Eternal love is immoveable, unchanging.
The most moving love songs ever written are hidden between the pages of Scripture. God powerfully proclaims his unending love and affection, singing sweetly to us like a smooth ballad. Have you heard these songs?
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”
Jeremiah 31:3
God initiates the song, and we, his precious children, sing back to him.
“By day the Lord directs his love, and night his song is with me.” Psalm 42:8
“…in the morning I will sing of your love.” Psalm 59:16
His song continues, reassuring us of his solid, unyielding love…
“…my unfailing love for you will not be shaken…” Psalm 54:10
We respond to his love with praise and adoration; the echoes of his love resound within our hearts.
“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.” Psalm 63:3
Not only does God sing to you, but he rejoices over you with the melody of his love.
The Lord your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17
As we sing of the Lord’s great love, he tenderly sings over us. His love draws us in. He invites us to soothe our souls with the symphony of his great affection. What you have done in your past no longer matters. His love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).
The sins of your past are covered in his garments. Christ’s love extends so wide that he stretched his arms out and was nailed to a cross.
That is eternal love.
Take the cloak of God’s love and wrap yourself in his sweet delight and affection. May you sing of his enduring love forever… and may his love song echo within your heart for all eternity.
His love endures forever…
Psalm 136:1

Hi Christin,
I remember as a young girl, I would listen to all the latest pop music and be swept away by the words of love. I wanted a love like that. I believed the lies that a love like that would make me whole. Well … as we know Truth, earthly human love will never make us whole. No matter how true or pure it is, it cannot make us whole. There is only one love that can do that. The love of our Savior! That realization was life-changing. And I am so thankful for His love and how He has made me whole. Thank you so much for sharing this precious hope alongside me at #MomentsofHope!
Blessings and smiles,
Lori
Thanks so much, Lori! I also was caught up in pop music when I was younger, thinking that I was “cool” if I listened to it–but looking back, those songs were so shallow and depicted a lie. Only God’s love will completely fulfill us! Thanks do much for stopping by today–and blessings to you this Thanksgiving season!
A Correction:
“…my unfailing love for you will not be shaken…” Psalm 54:10. It is Isaiah 54:10
Thank you for catching that! 🙂
