As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, we have so much to be thankful for. Take a look at the prayer below that you can use on Thanksgiving to express appreciation to the Lord for His goodness–or any day of the year!
A Prayer of Gratitude on Thanksgiving
Heavenly Father, we gather before You today, hearts full of gratitude and spirits overflowing with joy. As we look around this table, we are reminded of the warmth of belonging and the love that binds us together. During this Thanksgiving season, we pause to acknowledge the blessings you have graciously given us. We know that every good and perfect gift is from You.
Today, Lord, we thank You for the gift of family and friends, the cherished loved ones who make our lives richer. We thank You for the shared laughter, the comforting words, and the shared dreams. We thank You for the strength that arises from these connections, and the unconditional love we give and receive from one another.
We thank You for this home that provides us with warmth and safety, and for the nourishment of this meal. We are grateful for the hands that prepared this feast. Bless them with strength and fill their hearts with Your love. We also remember and pray for those who are in need. Extend Your mercy and provide for their needs.
Thank You for the gift of life and for the beauty that surrounds us each day. We thank you for the rising sun, the night stars, the rustling leaves, and the smiling faces that we meet.
We are grateful for every breath we take, each morning we wake up to, and every opportunity to experience the beauty of Your creation.
Father, we thank You for Your endless grace and love. We are grateful that You know our needs even before we realize them, and You provide for us in ways beyond our understanding. We are humbly thankful for the blessing of your presence in our lives.
You are always with us, lifting us when we fall, and guiding us towards love, peace, and truth.
As we partake in this meal, let us remember to spread love, cherish Your peace, and foster unity. Let us not only express gratitude with our words, but in our actions. Help us, Lord, to extend our hands and hearts to the lonely and to those in need.
On this Thanksgiving day, we remember and appreciate Your ultimate sacrifice, Jesus Christ, who is the Bread of Life and the source of our salvation.
As we gather round this table, we ask You to bless this food and the fellowship that we are about to share. May this meal nourish our bodies, the conversations enrich our minds, and the love in this room, fill our hearts.
May Your joy, peace, love and grace surround us each day. Amen.
