In today’s fast-paced world, we often find ourselves consumed with tasks and responsibilities. As women, especially those in ministry, we’re sometimes so focused on serving others that we forget to share the stories of how God has shaped our own lives.
This was one of the key messages that Dr. Ifeoma Samuel, founder of Purposeful and Meaningful, shared during her recent interview on the Praying with Victory podcast. Ifeoma’s words left me reflecting on how important it is to intentionally pass down our faith—through our actions, yes, but also through our stories!
Her heart for service is evident in everything she does. She’s a woman who humbly walks in the footsteps of Christ, never seeking accolades or praise. Instead, her life’s work is focused on one simple goal: to serve others and lead them to the heart of God.
As a mother, mentor, and evangelist, Ifeoma emphasizes that ministry is not just about the work we do—it’s about the stories we share. Our personal testimonies, grounded in the Word of God, hold the power to transform lives.
The Power of Storytelling in Passing Down Faith
Ifeoma shared a powerful thought during our conversation: “Our children need to hear our stories. They need to understand why we are so passionate about God, why we live by faith, and why we trust in Him even when life gets difficult.”
Yes and Amen!
This resonated deeply with me because it highlights a truth we often overlook as we go about our busy lives. We can teach our children all the Bible stories we want, but the real impact comes when we share our own personal stories of how God has worked in our lives.
The stories of His faithfulness, of His healing, and of His guidance in our darkest moments can have a lasting effect on the hearts of those we love.
Ifeoma also reflected on how sometimes, as mothers and women of faith, we are so caught up in serving others that we forget to share the behind-the-scenes moments with our children—the struggles, the victories, and the ways God has proven Himself time and time again.
She pointed out that children who are raised in ministry often see the outward appearances of faith—prayer meetings, Bible studies, outreach—but they don’t always understand the “why” behind it. The “why” is found in our stories—the stories of our faith, our struggles, and the grace that has sustained us.
The Importance of Intentionally Sharing Our Stories
In our conversation, Ifeoma spoke about how vital it is for us, as women of faith, to be intentional about passing down our stories to the next generation. This isn’t just about teaching our children to be good people—it’s about shaping their hearts to seek Jesus and trust in His plan for their lives.
It’s about reminding them that God’s work isn’t confined to the pages of Scripture, but is alive and active in our everyday lives!
She also shared that as parents, we often teach our children about friendship and relationships but sometimes forget to model those lessons ourselves. When we talk to our children about forgiveness, love, and trust, it’s important that we also live out those values in front of them—especially when it comes to our relationships with others and with God.
Ifeoma also reminded us that while we serve in ministry, we must always be mindful of the spiritual health of our own families. As much as we pour into others, we need to pour into our children and teach them the power of God’s Word, not just by instruction, but through the real, lived experiences we share with them.
A Legacy of Faith
At the Praying with Victory Summit, Dr. Ifeoma will speak on the theme of intentional parenting, focusing on how we can intentionally share our faith stories with the next generation. The summit is an opportunity for women all over the world to come together and learn how to walk in victory through prayer, faith, and the stories that define our relationship with God.
As Ifeoma shared, “When you come to a summit like this, look for Jesus. Look for Him in every story, in every testimony. He is the one who will transform your heart.”
I encourage you to take some time today to reflect on your own faith journey. Think about the stories you’ve lived through—those moments when God showed up in powerful ways. These stories are not just for you to hold onto; they are meant to be passed down to those around you. They are the seeds of faith that will grow and flourish in the hearts of your children, your friends, and your community!
A Prayer of Faith
Lord,
Thank You for the incredible stories of faith You’ve written in each of our lives. Thank You for being present in both the big moments and the quiet, everyday moments. Lord, help us to share these stories with the next generation—our children, our families, our friends—in a way that draws them closer to You. Help us to be intentional in passing down our faith, not just through teachings but through our lived experiences. May our stories testify to Your goodness, grace, and love.
Father, we ask that You equip us with the strength and wisdom to be faithful stewards of the stories You’ve given us. May we never be too busy to share what You’ve done in our lives, and may our children and those around us see the power of Your presence through our testimonies. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and guide us in every step of our journey. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
I hope this post has encouraged you to reflect on the power of storytelling in your own life and how you can pass down your faith to those around you. Let’s continue to be women who share our stories and live lives that point to Jesus!
