This week on the Praying With Victory podcast, I had the incredible honor of sitting down with Ruthanna Sonntag—a woman of unshakable faith, powerful testimony, and deep conviction. Ruthanna is the founder of Clarity Coaching, but her story begins long before that title was ever attached to her name.
She grew up in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of devoted believers, and was homeschooled alongside her three brothers. But life shifted dramatically when she lost her father at just ten years old—a heartbreak that planted seeds of resilience and purpose in her young heart.
Ruthy’s path led her into public education, where she taught middle school math for eight years. But what set her apart was how she infused her classroom with kingdom principles. Her students didn’t just learn equations—they stood on their desks declaring “I am” statements and discovered their own value and voice.
Her transformation began when she stumbled into the world of personal development. Unlike the dry professional trainings she endured as a teacher, these messages lit a fire in her spirit. She began to realize there was more—more to life, more to purpose, and more that God was calling her into.
She shared how God walked her through the uncomfortable process of letting go of a secure teaching position to step into life coaching full time. It wasn’t easy. There was spiritual warfare. There was fear. But there was also freedom. Through it all, she clung to the truth that what God hides is for us, not from us.
One of the most touching moments was when Ruthanna spoke the prayer that has shaped so much of her journey:
“Jesus, kiss me where it hurts.”
That simple, raw cry to the Lord opened the door to deep healing and restoration in places she hadn’t even known were broken. It’s a reminder that God isn’t just after our productivity—He’s after our hearts.
As she prepares to speak at the Praying With Victory Summit, Ruthy carries a message of education, empowerment, and equipping. She wants women to know that God is not withholding answers, identity, or wisdom—He’s inviting us to seek, to ask, and to trust that what is hidden is meant to be found.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the stories that remind us of Your faithfulness. Thank you for women like Ruthy who courageously say “yes” to Your call, even when it means stepping into the unknown. Lord, we ask You to meet us in our broken places. Heal what we didn’t know needed healing. Remind us that what we’re looking for is not lost—it’s lovingly hidden for us, waiting to be discovered in Your perfect timing. Give us the courage to raise a standard of righteousness in our homes, our work, and our calling. May we walk in faith, speak in truth, and live in victory.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
