Have you ever found yourself in a season of life that you never asked for—one filled with heartbreak, disappointment, or unexpected detours? If so, you’re not alone. In a recent episode of the Praying with Victory podcast, I had the privilege of sitting down with Sandy Brown from The Creator’s Classroom, and her story is a powerful reminder that God can use even our most broken moments to draw us closer to Him.
Sandy didn’t start out with a love for writing—or for psychology, for that matter. But God, in His beautiful and redemptive way, had other plans. Through a series of painful life experiences, including abandonment, loss, and rejection, Sandy found herself at a crossroads. It was during this deeply vulnerable season that God began to teach her new lessons—lessons about healing, trust, and the power of His presence.
One of the most touching moments Sandy shared was the story of the baby chicks she raised during her time of healing. As loud engines rumbled from a nearby worksite, the frightened chicks ran to her for safety—some even hiding beneath her stool. In that moment, Sandy heard God whisper, “You’re a lot like these chickens. When life gets scary, come to Me.”
Isn’t that such a beautiful picture of prayer? Not a list of demands or a formal ritual—but a daily, moment-by-moment coming home to the One who loves us. Sandy reminded us that prayer isn’t just a “to-do list” for God; it’s a continuous, relational conversation with our Father. It’s a way of living—of recognizing that He is with us in every moment, ready to shelter and guide us.
Through The Creator’s Classroom, Sandy now encourages women who have found life disappointing. Her mission is to help them rediscover the joy of the Lord—not by pretending life isn’t hard, but by learning to pray, heal, and grow even in the midst of hardship. As Sandy shared, the classroom is life, and our Creator is the Teacher. And in His hands, no pain is wasted.
If you’re walking through a difficult season today, let Sandy’s story remind you: you are not alone. God sees you, loves you, and invites you into deeper relationship with Him—one quiet, honest prayer at a time.
A Prayer for Joy in the Journey
Lord,
Thank You for being our refuge when life feels overwhelming. Thank You for hearing our cries and holding us close in the hard moments. Lord, help us to come to You—not just with our lists, but with our hearts. Teach us to pray without ceasing, to walk with You daily, and to find joy in Your presence even when circumstances are tough. Heal the broken places in us and restore our hope.
We trust You, the Author and Teacher of our story. In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
