I love praying Scripture. When we need to actively fight against the enemy, we can use the passage in the Armor of God in Ephesians 6: 10-20,
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Here is one way we can turn this passage into a personal prayer:
Heavenly Father, I put on the full Armor of God today, standing firm with the Belt of Truth buckled around my waist. I acknowledge You as the source of all truth. May I not fall prey to the enemy’s lies, but abide in your word rich in truth and wisdom.
I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness, providing a powerful defense against the assaults of the enemy. I strive to walk in integrity and righteousness, reflecting your holy presence in my everyday interactions with others. Teach me to live justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with you each day.
Today I put on the Gospel of Peace firmly attached to my feet, I am prepared to proclaim Your Good News to the world. Let me walk in ways that bring peace, not strife, and unity, not discord, as I follow Your path of reconciliation.
I take up the Shield of Faith with which I will extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Strengthen my faith, Lord, in times of trials and difficulties. May Your shield guard me against doubt and unbelief.
My head is also covered with the Helmet of Salvation, reminding me of Your saving grace and eternal life. Let this assurance of my salvation direct my thoughts and actions, protecting me from the enemy’s attempts to distract and discourage me.
And, I take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. May Your Word be my weapon against the enemy’s assaults, bringing light into darkness and truth into deceit. Teach me to use Your Word wisely and correctly, to uplift others and to strengthen my soul.
Lord, make me vigilant and alert for the enemy’s schemes. Teach me to be persistent in my prayers for the community of believers all over the world. I offer these prayers in complete surrender and reliance on You. You are the God of all wisdom, power, love and strength.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
May this prayer and the power of God’s Word give you encouragement and strength today!
