Have you ever found yourself in a season where hope felt just out of reach?
Maybe life threw you a curveball, and you weren’t sure where God was in the midst of it all. If that’s you, friend, you’re not alone. And today, I want to invite you into a powerful and heart-stirring conversation I had with Lori Schumaker on the Praying with Victory podcast—one that reminded me that hope is always accessible, even in our darkest seasons.
Lori is the founder of Unveiling Hope—a ministry born out of her personal journey through adoption, parenting a child with special needs, and holding tightly to God’s promises when life felt uncertain. What started as a simple blog to keep friends and family updated during her family’s adoption journey eventually blossomed into a life-giving ministry that now offers resources, retreats, and encouragement for women seeking hope and healing.
During our conversation, Lori shared how the name Unveiling Hope came to be. She talked about a moment when God gave her the word “hope” for the year and began revealing what that truly meant. She drew a beautiful connection between Moses’ radiant face after being in God’s presence and the tearing of the veil when Jesus declared, “It is finished.” Because of Jesus, the veil that once separated us from God’s presence was torn—and now, we have access to His hope at all times.
But Lori also gently challenged us with this: What veils are we putting back up in our lives? What emotional wounds, lies, or distractions are standing between us and the hope that’s freely available in God’s presence?
She reminded us that prayer is our lifeline, our continual conversation with the Father, and that it’s through prayer we begin to hear God’s voice, understand our identity in Him, pray with power, and offer forgiveness—what Lori calls the four pillars of hope: Hearing God, Owning your identity, Praying powerfully, and Extending forgiveness.
Whether you’re in a joyful season or a weary one, Lori’s story is a beautiful testimony to God’s faithfulness. Her words encouraged me to lean in more deeply to God’s presence—to not shy away from prayer, but to embrace it as the very place where hope is found.
“Hope is impossible without prayer.” – Lori Schumaker
Friend, if your heart is longing for renewal, if you’re trying to find your footing again, I encourage you to listen to this episode. I believe it will speak to your soul and remind you that even when you feel like giving up, God has never given up on you.
