How to Mend the Torn Pieces of your Soul

The Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel…
Nahum 2:2

Back in high school I took my first and only sewing class ever. It was a fun experience, but I still cannot successfully create a piece of clothing to save my life! One thing I do remember making with the other students was a class quilt.

We gathered together pieces of fabric from old shirts, jeans and blankets to create something new.

That is exactly what God does with the pieces of our torn souls.

He takes the old, worn, tattered conditions of our hearts and makes something beautiful out of our lives.

Sometimes life has a way of tearing at our garments of warmth and protection. Sometimes we feel or lives unravel at the seams. Death. Sickness. Betrayal. Abandonment. The pain of this world rips gaping holes in the garments of our souls. The weariness of life wears us out like holes in a pair of old jeans.

Like the nation of Israel, sometimes our own poor choices have left us open and vulnerable to the enemy’s attack.

But God, through the precious sacrifice of Christ, has given us garments of salvation and restoration.

He makes us strong again.

He takes the torn garments of our hearts and repairs them with his enduring love.

His kindness sews the frayed seams of our souls, and he clothes us with garments of strength.

Jesus came to restore the splendor and beauty of our tattered lives.

Our brilliance will shine again like the first gleam of dawn (Prov 4:18).

Have you wrapped yourself in God’s garments of strength today? Allow him to restore the torn pieces of your heart. Arise, dear sister, and clothe yourself with strength; put on your fabulous garments of splendor (Isaiah 52:1).

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
1 Peter 5:10

How has God mended and restored your heart? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

  1. THE LORD HAS GREATLY RESTORED MY PAST AND ALL THE PAIN FROM THE PAST NOT ONLY HAS HE RESTORED MY SOUL AND HEART OF PAST WOUNDS BUT HE HAS RESTORED MY FATHER FROM DRUG ADDICTION AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HE HAS GRANTED MY FATHER HIS SALVATION. MY FATHER RAISED MY SIBLINGS AND I AS A SINGLE FATHER HE DIDN’T DO EVERYTHING RIGHT BUT HE DID THE BEST HE COULD WITH WHAT HE HAD HE WAS A WONDERFUL DAD. THE LORD RESTORED HIS SALVATION FREELY TO MY FATHER AND RESTORED MY SOUL AS WELL WITH FORGIVENESS AND HEALING OF MY SOUL
